Gaffney, a native Southern Californian, grew up surrounded by family and friends deeply involved in all aspects of the entertainment industry; many are famous performers, actors, songwriters, producers and sound engineers. All have enjoyed the many facets of success in the entertainment industry, including the business, performance, and the production of music. Some of the projects include such notable artists and productions as; Extreme Games, CSI NY, Radio Days, Freddy Fender, Doug Sahm, Dave Alvin, Lucinda Williams, Bruce Springsteen, No Doubt, Offspring, Stone Temple Pilots, Wyclif Gordon, Eddie Daniels, Chris Holiday, Bruce Gertz, Llew Mathews, Diane Schuur, Bon Jovi, James Brown and more.
Music seemed to be a natural step in the family business, but Gaffney began her journey in dance and choreography, with placement in the JoAnne Warner Dance Company, Gaffney traveled the world with the troupe. The expressive nature of dance certainly was an extension of her interest in jazz. After the birth of her son, Gaffney began to look back to her roots in music. With a house filled with Broadway, Beatles and Bach, Gaffney found her voice in vocal jazz.
The demands of the music industry require a certain tenacity, talent and style
that set the artist apart from the ordinary. Gaffney possesses these qualities
and more. She has the ability to deliver songs with soul stirring emotion, and
transcend several different types of audiences due to her style and undeniable
vocal ability. Gaffney has performed at many of the top venues nationwide including
Sambuca Jazz Cafe's, The Majestic Steakhouse, The House of Blues, The Rialto
Theater, Billboard Live, The Concord, The Galaxy Concert Theater, Lincoln Center
and the Pocono Blues Festival.
Gaffney's freshman Release Angel Eyes garnered airplay across the U.S. &
Canada, breaking through the "Top 30" in numerous states. In addition,
Angel Eyes ranked top two placements in New York & Chicago and number nine
in Ohio and Colorado. California Radio and The Jazz Association voted Gaffney,
"Best New Jazz Vocalist of the Year." Gaffney also had the honor of
"Featured Artist" on NPR's "The Jazz Spot," and achieved
"Top Sales" status with BORDERS, BOOKS & MUSIC & Amazon.com.
Satin Doll, Gaffney's Sophomore recording, was released on January 14, 2003
and reached (out of 5,000 releases per week) the Jazz Week Charts, went to #1
on the CMJ Jazz Charts and #8 on the Top 200 Radio Releases (All Genres'), Satin
Doll was also on the 2003 Grammy Ballot. Continuously referred to by the critics
as "One of the most sultry and seductive voices of our time," Gaffney
draws from the vast riches of the "American Songbook." Gaffney's ability
to create impeccably crafted arrangements and musical savvy has also attracted
the instrumental listening arena. Gaffney's vocal albums brim with sophistication
and style.
Currently, Gaffney performs regularly throughout the Southeastern Region at
Concerts, Private Functions and The Ritz Carlton (Reynolds Plantation) Lake
Oconee, Georgia. Additionally, you can find Gaffney hard at work promoting other
artists works as a publicist and radio promoter. Gaffney's love of the music
industry shines through with her sincere commitment and understanding of the
entertainment industry from a business and performance standpoint. Gaffney's
